Italy: a country on its knees in the snow

Nulla di abnormal for the cold but rich and functional German city: according to meters, means snowploughs be on the roads on both platforms, tram and bus regularly on time. On my return-alas-I had to deal with bad weather that I brought here and now our decadence emerge from under the desks of spells. A journey of about an hour has turned into an endless hell. All for a sprinkling of snow lasting a few hours and that evening was already gone, but in those hours as panic in our lives! My journey has gone from one hour to five, the roads were impassable, icy, snowy, slippery and dangerous. Public transport has been seriously delayed and the whole country has gone haywire. For the record I was on a cassia, road between Rome and Viterbo, remaining still in the same place for over two hours in good company of other fellow citizens stressed that turned to walk between the cars to see what happens. The snow came and announced it was turning into compacted ice, drivers have taken the difficult route at an average speed of 15 mph to stop completely. No means snowploughs came to fix the roads. We are not equipped as in Germany someone said: sure, but the exceptional phenomenon was expected for days and had to be ready. A look around the other hand, had the impression of an abandoned town to itself, with only people who tried to force himself between themselves and solve their problems. I saw people with shovels shoveling snow or scraping the asphalt off the ice, but what country is this, where individuals take away with piles of rough ice and snow? Where is the state?

Most of chaos occurred when heavy trucks could not get up in front started to slide sideways blocking the transit. Other cars could not move the load by rotating tires on ice. Some is shared with the human drive (or at the push of a person whose arm pushed the car away from the most slippery), but some are more fortunate and managed to not be nailed again. At the end we managed to find a side gate and around parked cars and trucks, but the tragic day brings another painful post-it on the bulletin board of a state in shambles. Eventually, late in the evening, we thought the rain to resolve the situation and dissolve the last ice sheets: and thank goodness, otherwise I would be here to tell you of a camp and not an inconvenience. Nobody has seen, no one felt as if none existed, as if the state was not also a mere invention of television.
