On August 21, was the Earth Overshoot Day, the day when humanity has consumed all the resources that the Earth provides in one year. It is not good news. This means that for three days we are scraping the barrel of resources by living on credit. And so it will be from now until December 31. This was announced by the Global Footprint Network, the international organization that measures the impact on the nature of existence. We are consuming more than what we could given the ability to regenerate resources and, as a direct consequence, we produce more waste than the earth can absorb. Last year, Earth Overshoot Day went off in September. This means that despite the crisis, the man has stepped up its processes on a global scale, a figure which does not bode well in anticipation of future economic recovery. How much longer you can sustain such a pace? The economy beats weak and yet every year we anticipate the end of resources. This can have two meanings: the earth each year provides us with fewer resources because these are low, or wildly that consume increasing amounts of goods (without being aware) of what we can do without. You can live with less, much less, without it constituting an attack on our lives.
